In Memory of Tony,
a noble German Shepherd Dog

HI MOM!
Your Toner here . . . from the Rainbow Bridge!

Tony

Born: February 6, 1985
Journeyed to the Rainbow Bridge: February 5, 1997

Dear Mom,

My new buddy Gusto tells me you are still feeling sad about me. Don't worry, I am happy, I feel good, and I'm having a good time; but I do miss you so!

Gusto also tells me that you found his Human, and that you are giving him great comfort. I sure hope his Human is helping you too.

Gusto says that he never had a doggy friend as big as me. All the bigger dogs picked on him and started fights and he didn't like to fight. He thinks it was because he is so cute. Hmmmph! I suppose he is cute, but why should I be threatened by that?

Gusto is a really great guy, a lot fun to hang around with. But he's got this thing about frisbees. We have a frisbee tree here, and whenever one gets ripe, it falls to the ground. Gusto goes crazy - barkbarkbarkbarkbarkbarkbarkbarkbarkbarkbarkbarkbark! Geez, Mom, I'm afraid he's going to bark me to deaf!

Anyway Mom, please don't worry about me, I am doing just fine; but I do miss you dearly. I Reeaaally miss your hugs!

Please give my love to my other best Human friends - Jeff and Dave, and their wives, and of course to Savannah Leigh, Mr. Prince, and your granddoggies!

Love,
Tony,

"The only tragedy in sharing your life with a German Shepherd Dog
is having a part of your heart die with them
when they cross to the Rainbow Bridge."

"You have left a hole in my heart...
never to heal again."

Love, Mom

RUN, TONY, RUN!!! RUN, RUN RUN!

"I have sometimes thought of the final cause of dogs having such short lives, and I am quite satisfied it is in compassion to the human race; for if we suffer so much in losing a dog after an acquaintance of ten or twelve years, what would it be if they were to live double that time?"

- Sir Walter Scott

Toner's Loving Family
Christmas 1996

"If you bury him in this spot, he will come to you when you call...
over the grim, dim frontiers of death, and down the well remembered
path and to your side again. And though you call a dozen living dogs
to heel, they shall not growl at him, nor resent his coming,
for he is yours and he belongs there.
The best place to bury a Good Dog is in your Heart."
